INTEL CORE i5 661

Most latest and fastest.

Intel core i5 processors haven't seen the limelight for inexplicable reasons. The 661 is built on 32 nm process that helps it run really cool running at a blistering 3.33GHz.This is regular stuff, however, and what makes the CPU really special is the addition of an integrated GPU on the CPU die. This CPU is based on 1156 LGA so
cket and although P55 boards are supported, it's obviously designed for newer intel H55 and H57 chipsets that can make use of integrated graphic solution. Testing the i5 661 we must say it's very cool-the CPU never crossed 41 degrees throughout our testings.
The maxon cinebench RIO score of 8,586 is even higher than the similarly clocked Core 2 Duo E8600 (7,107) another dual core from the older Core Duo family. The WinRar 3.9 score of 1,802 scored by the E8600. A 100 MB.VOB file was converted to the ,divx format in 51 seconds-while this isn't record breaking stuff, it's still fairly fast. Priced at Rs.13,500, the core i5 661 isexpensive-and this is only sore spot we have. After all, if you wanted power, you could buy a Core i7 860 for the same price-and that would outperform this. The i5 661s inbuilt graphics chip is also a factor however, and is decent scoring a 2061 in 3D mark 2006. We cannot recommend it at this price point-for it is not a value proposition.
